Alliance Française Brochure

The Alliance Française Brochure was created for a festival of events. While they were not sure what kind of image or logo they wanted, one thing was very important to them: that the design was to somehow distinctly represent French culture. I delivered the logo and indentity image of the hot air balloon, basing the idea on the first hot air balloon flight in france in 1783. The logo was at once light-hearted, immediately recognizable, and above all, very French.

The brochure was 4 color 8 panel gatefold brochure. The schedule was placed on the inner gatefold. Thus, unfolding the brochure gave increasing levels of information, culminating in the presentation of the festival events. The balloon icon is scattered throughout the entire design, producing a very festive and lively feeling. The preseident of the Alliance stated it was "the best brochure ever produced for the Alliance."

The Conference Center at UBS Tower

The UBS Tower was built a little over a decade ago, and they wanted their Conference Center marketed to the B2B Community. Incorporating their logo, I designed a complete marketing system to launch their brand, including a website, letter-head and promotional flyers and mailers.

L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra

In addition to producing Interactive media for L.A. Philharmonic, I also created some of theor printed mailers. Here is one example.

Roadtech Advertisement

In addition to designing Roadtech's logo and website, I have routinely designed other collateral materials, such as the advertisement shown here.

Group MW

This is included here to show an expertise in vector design. Group MW had an in house designer that produced a logo for them, but the designer created the image in Photoshop using layers. Once produced, they realized they couldn't use it because it was not a vector file. They came to me, and I produced the version shown here in a vector format, meticulously utilizing the features of Adobe Illustrator to recreate the shapes and gradients found in the original bitmap file. The resulting design was a complete vector file, which they could utilize in any print media at any size they wished.

Progress Press Print Campaign

In addition to designing and maintaining the Progress press website, I was asked to generate a series of print advertisements, such as the one shown here, using an illustration I had created for them a few years earlier.

"Randal Huiskens has been an amazing pillar of support for the marketing functions of Progress Press, our small publishing firm devoted to music and pedagogical texts for the flute. When Walfrid Kujala of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra retired in 2001, we sought to engage an established professional artist to prepare posters and invitation materials for a special event in his honor. We soon discovered that Randal Huiskens was the artist behind many of the stunning images already on display in websites and print matter with which we were already familiar. We were thrilled with the results of that collaboration and maintain a solid working relationship. When Progress Press set up a website, we again turned to Randal and continue to be amazed at his rare and wonderful blend of attributes. Randal is an artist as well as a practical businessman capable of managing the tedium of a website, both its display and the behind-the-scenes matters of internet commerce."
